Today is Kieran’s birthday.  Last night we decided to head up to the mining memorial overlooking the city first thing and have brekky there.  It certainly was a very crisp, windy morning!  The Allen’s took Mav (their motorhome) up and we had piping hot barista coffees made to order.  A great start to the day.

We left the racecourse around 10am and had a fairly leisurely drive through to Peterborough.  We are getting used to the emus and goats beside the road – although yesterday a few of us had an extremely close call with a couple of baby goats that got separated from Mum and got very confused in the middle of the road.  Hopefully they moved away after they survived our interaction and haven’t come to grief with other travellers passing by.

We crossed the border into South Australia before lunch and survived our quarantine inspection before arriving at our farm stay in Peterborough.  

We are staying at an alpaca farm with it’s own ruins on the property.  We even had enough time this afternoon to get in some exercise inside the ruins programmed by our very own personal trainer (thanks Tani!).

This evening we headed to the only place in town that was cooking meals to celebrate Kieran’s birthday.  While the food was good, it did appear that providing meals as ordered as opposed to how they thought they should come was optional….

We had planned a fire when we came home tonight but it was just so cold so we will defer to another day and have holed up inside our vans for the evening.  Tomorrow we head through to Whyalla.
