Huge change of pace day today.

We woke to wind. How surprising…

We had to be out of our campsite by 10am and we were only moving 20km up the road so the pack wasn’t corrugation worthy. We rocked up to our new home for the next 3 nights and were excited to see our beach views. Karen and Kieran arrived an hour after us and we ended up in side by side sites. Kieran successfully towed his van across soft sand getting back across Yardie Creek. Bob and I are so glad we didn’t have to do that!

We haven’t done a lot today. We went for a walk in the wind along the beach and came across an Osprey nest that we needed to maintain clearance from. We were watching for turtles in the windblown shore water and saw at least 4 sting rays in the shallows 🙂 .

I have made progress on my latest macrame project and we have spent some time organising forward bookings in the van away from the wind. This evening the whole campsite met at the picnic tables (there are only 11 sites here) for sunset and sharing of travel experiences. This is where we learn so much about where we should and shouldn’t visit.

We didn’t catch up with the Allens’ today. They also have stayed out of the water with the wind. A walk to the deserted oyster stacks and booking planning (with many messages back and forth between us all) were on the agenda.

A rare night with some of us at the same location so a game of Ginny-O was arranged after dinner. After listening to the many rules it seemed like it could be a good game. It wasn’t….. Karen won, I came last. I have decided it is a stupid game.

The wind has dropped tonight and tomorrow is meant to be amazing weather. After our water-free day today, we are planning more snorkelling to take advantage of the conditions. I have loved having salt-free hair for a full day today 🙂 .
