2025-08-31 Wooramel River Retreat
Well today has been about returning slowly to the land of the living for Sue and I. Feeling so much better and very glad Bob was happy to step into the blogging shoes for the last couple of days.
We left Gascoyne Junction before 830 and with no stops we were at Woomarel by 1130. We pulled up to luxurious grass sites and had a quick recon to the artesian baths about 50m away from our sites (past the cafe and outdoor seating area). Feeling very decadent. After a quick lunch we staked our claim on a bath filling with fresh water and proceeded to soak, and soak, and soak.

After a few hours we were a Trump shade of orange, and very wrinkled, so exited and we all spent some time sitting outside the van in the shade. The Allen’s and Bob then decided to explore the dry river area to try and find echidnas. I’m not quite ready for actual exercise yet so I took one for the team and headed over to the cafe where a lovely young country music singer was setting up for the evening. How to make Kerri forget she is feeling miserable 🙂 .

We all enjoyed some original and cover songs from Emily Joy as the sun set before retreating to our vans for another early night for this bunny.

Karen and Kieran have headed on their planned expedition to Steep Point – the most westerly point of mainland Australia today. They have enjoyed the emerging wildflowers, driving on tar, gravel and sand – even over dunes. Corrugations don’t concern them (clearly) and they are the only campers at the campground, enjoying their view of Dirk Hartog Island in solitude.

Tomorrow we move on to Shark Bay where we will meet back up with the Scott’s.
