This morning the weather was a bit hit and miss (which was forecast). A bit of rain, a bit of sunshine. Not too big a deal as we were spending some time relocating to Kalbarri.

Karen and Kieran departed from Fowlers Camp but not before Kieran got some great drone shots from above.

We travelled with the Allen’s and took advantage of the ok weather to call in to Hawks Head Lookout over the Murchison River (feature photo). The wildflowers here are really looking lovely since we called through 6 weeks ago.

The boys met an ex senior park ranger who took them to see a very rare native orchid (the red striped flower). The Kalbarri Spider Orchid only grows at 16 known locations, 12 of which are in the Kalbarri National Park. It only grows under 2 specific types of plant.

Then we moved a few km down the road to the Ross Graham lookout. From here it is possible to descend to the river. Jase and I stayed up top as we are both a little sub optimal with lung capacity at the moment while Bob and Sue went down for a look.

Then we proceeded to Kalbarri and while enroute the weather packed it in. We arrived to howling winds and rain and the wind in particular has stayed for the whole rest of the day. We checked in to the caravan park in time for lunch and have battened down the hatches for the afternoon. I have started my next crochet project, however have hit a snag as both Kalbarri and Denham have nowhere to buy wool and I need some white for my daisies….I might shelve this one until we hit more civilisation in a week or so.

Tomorrow is Kieran’s nominated experience for the tour. It may require some changes though. The plan was for us all to do Parkrun and then head to a cafe for breakfast. Weather may change the plan to just brekky which will be decided in the morning. Also, there are a few of us still building some stamina up (read 4 of us) after getting sick at various stages over the last week and a half. We will make the call in the morning if we are up for some exercise.
