Move on day again today and we all went our separate ways as we are all staying at various locations tonight. Our first stop was Jurien Bay. We called in here briefly on our way up the coast and the heavens opened while we were visiting. Today the sun was out, but the wind was super strong. We walked out to the end of the jetty leaning heavily forward and decided the old jetty photography I was thinking I might do wasn’t on the cards with sand flying everywhere. We bumped into the Scott’s here before moving on.

Next stop for us was Seabird. This small town is the location of 14 shipwrecks – one of which was the Sea Bird which wrecked in 1874. There is a visible wreckage of the Villalta ship 3km south of the town which sank when it struck the reef in 1897. The captain and a boy were drowned. I was keen to find this as we were there at low tide but unfortunately it was 4wd accessible only and we had the van on the car.

Along the way I finished the next instalment in my crafting – a little crocheted basket of daisies and flowers. Not sure where this will live but I’m sure I’ll find a spot.

We then moved on to the town of Two Rocks. We really liked it here. There is a heap of development happening so it’s a bit painful moving around the town but it had a really nice vibe. A huge Neptune statue (feature photo) as well as the two rocks the town is named after were our explore points here. We also ran into Jase and Sue here as they were finishing lunch and we were heading in to the cafe for some.

We then headed via the town of Yanchep towards the metropolis of the Perth region. There is an insane amount of money being poured into development in the outer suburbs. There is clearly a lot of growth occurring.

After what seemed like an eternity traversing from the north through to the south of the city, we pulled up at our home for the next four nights in South Fremantle. We dumped the van off the car and literally headed straight back out to pick up a package from the post office and suss out the visitor info centre before 5pm. While at the info centre we learned that the Rottnest Island ferry has been cancelled due to high seas on Sunday. We have all booked to go there on Monday so fingers crossed it will have dropped by then. We should hear tomorrow hopefully.

Then it was just a leisurely explore around town. We stumbled across a pub with a rooftop bar so headed up and found ourselves spending the next hour and a half enjoying the view and the atmosphere. Seemed like a good idea to stay and eat something for dinner as well 🙂 .

Once the sun set, the temp started dropping quickly so we departed and continued our walk to the water. The place has a really lovely feel. So many people out and about and heaps of bars and restaurants which were all well patronised.

After we ran into the Scott’s this morning, they spent some time at Wedge Island before calling into Lancelin (which they didn’t get to on the way up the coast).

Tonight they are staying at Yanchep National Park where they saw kangaroos and koalas on their explore.

Jase and Sue have spent the afternoon at a mountain bike park being energetic. They have moved further south and have found a pub stay for the night.

Tomorrow the others will join us at South Fremantle. We have Bob’s chosen experience for the trip tomorrow night which is a candlelight concert. Looking forward to it.
