2025-09-20 Jarvis Estate
This morning was Parkrun day….except I didn’t get to bed till really late after blogging last night so woke up waaayyy too late to go 😉 . Jase and Sue were possibles as well but the squidding conditions proved too good to pass up. They got some good catches, as well as some great drone shots before sunrise over the jetty. Thanks to Jason for today’s cover shot.
The Scott’s stuck to the plan and completed Parkrun with great times all round.

We packed ready to move on but I threw a spanner in the works by suggesting a trip over the road to the Busselton Caravan and Camping Show. A quick chat with the park manager and we had a late site departure organised so we could have a look around for a couple of hours with the Scott’s. In good news (from Bob’s perspective) we didn’t buy a new caravan 🙂 .
We left Busselton around lunchtime and headed for our camp booking at Jarvis Estate winery. Along the way we stopped at a Protea farm and of course I had to buy some. So love proteas despite trying to grow one years ago that died straight away.

We headed through to our spot for the next 4 nights and set up. Wind low, sun out – feels like the NSW we remember before we left – although I understand it hasn’t been like that of recent times. So we got out camping chairs out for the first time in what seems like ages and enjoyed some rare sit time.

Our booking came with a complementary wine tasting which we all enjoyed this afternoon. Jarvis Estate is a Dry Farmed Wine estate which means they never irrigate their vines. This encourages wide ranging root growth which picks up different minerals depending on the level of moisture in the soil each year. There are a few more bottles in my van stash now 😉 .

This afternoon/evening I have really enjoyed. An actual opportunity for us all to sit at a fire and eat dinner and chat. There have been way too many cold and windy nights at caravan parks lately that precluded that from happening – the price of sight seeing in suburbia I suppose.

Tomorrow is my nominated experience for the group. I’ve changed it twice already but really looking forward to a tour in Lake Cave as well as late afternoon light at Boranup Forest with the super tall Karri trees. Hope the weather plays along.
