2025-10-01 Bremer Bay
I never cease to be amazed at the experiences we are having on this trip. Today was one of those days. After the sombre history of whaling in our country, to see what we did today was just so incredible. I’ve been buzzing ever since.
I get ahead of myself though. We had a slow start today (well Bob and I did, the Scott’s did their morning marathons..). We had arranged to meet up at 9 and spend some time exploring on the bikes. We headed around to the river inlet and were gobsmacked at the colour of the water and the clarity of it. Decision made right then and there to bring the cars down tomorrow for breakfast.

We spent some time rock hopping and enjoying the landscape. I wore jeans riding (seriously, who does that?), and then went wading and before I knew it they were completely waterlogged… Oh well.

The boys stopped for coffee at a cart that also just happened to sell ice creams. So Karen and I joined the party 🙂 .

We rode back to the vans via town and spent a few hours getting on top of life admin/maintenance (or in Karen’s case, catching zzz’s in the sun after her ridiculous exercise regime). Weirdly, I felt the need to cook a date loaf (packet mix) and after an early extraction from the oven I seem to have resurrected the cook.
We headed back out this afternoon in the Scott’s car to complete the Point Henry Drive Trail. We went to multiple lookouts and beaches – all incredible, with the whitest of white sand, the most turquoise water and interesting rock formations. But the most memorable part of today will be the 2 mum and 2 bub whales feeding and swimming together right in close to shore near the beach. Kieran and I sent the drones up and got some great photos for our memories. It wasn’t until tonight when going through the photos that I realised they were southern rights! Even more special 🙂 .

We continued on seeing beaches and lookouts, all so impressive but also very similar. We all enjoyed a slice of date loaf before finishing our day with long light at the Tooreburrup Hill Lookout.

We arrived back at the vans with half an hour before sunset. I raced out to get the washing off the line and to check my photos while Karen and Kieran headed out to play pickle ball….
As we decided this morning we will head to the bay for breakfast on the sand. Hoping for low winds and lots of sun.

Fantastic photos. Might need two years worth of calendars to use all the great shots from this trip!
Thanks Louise.
