2025-10-11 Cape Le Grand
Today marks the start of the last pre-planned chapter of our trip. We booked our sites in Cape Le Grand National Park back in early April (6 months out as per WA rules). Bob and I turned up before 830 to the campground to stake a claim on a site. We grabbed a smallish one with killer views and then noticed the van in the next site appeared to be packing up. Once confirmed we squatted on site 13 until site 12 was vacant. We have done the full outdoor set up here as we are a bit protected from the wind and the forecast is pretty good for the next few days. It seems a nice way to finish off our WA 3 months.

The Scott’s showed up before lunch after their morning activities and grabbed a newly vacated site further up the campground.

We met up after lunch and had a bit of a hit out up the closest granite hill. Great views back over the beach. Then back to the water for some rock hopping and exploring.

This afternoon we have had a video call with the family after Ryan and Emily’s return from Europe. I think I might be going to Iceland next…..

Tomorrow we are heading off early to attack Frenchman’s Peak. All things point to it being a very challenging climb. Will see how Bob and I go….

Frenchman’s Peak is one of only a couple of started hikes that I have not completed. The views were spectacular from the point I did get to though. Enjoy the climb. ( I didn’t have walking poles back then and maybe that was why I chickened out)
I fully understand. We got there today, but I had a failed attempt on another peak a couple of weeks ago. Sometimes it just isn’t the right time.
Hi Pam, we had a nice climb up Frenchman’s Peak yesterday. It was steep and exposed in places. Luckily we had a still, dry day. Great view from the top. Good to hear from you. Cheers
What a great camp site. Still can’t believe you call walking up that peak a fun thing to do on holidays 🤔
I know right? I’ve been broken. Rest assured soon I’ll return to work, sit at a desk all day and drink my wine – the Kerri you know will be back 🙂 .
