The start of the end! We headed off from Port Campbell this morning and the aim was to go where we hadn’t before. That resulted in some questionable ‘C’ roads that bounced the contents of our cupboards around a little.

It was interesting countryside regardless, and we stopped for a lunch of zucchini pie (made by Bob, reheated in the car oven while driving) at Avoca – another repeat name from home. We topped up with bread at the bakery and stopped by the town silo art before heading on our way.

Today we have knocked out nearly 400km and I’ve done a lot of knitting! We arrived at Echuca mid afternoon and have pulled up at a drive through site at the caravan park next to the Murray River and at the end of the historic Main Street. After a very minimal set up we opened our picnic table Australia map and updated it. The map includes all our caravanning adventures since we started out when Ryan was in nappies. It’s looking pretty good I must say!

We decided to head off on a walk and checked out the River foreshore and all the houseboats moored along it and saw a paddle steamer head off for a sunset cruise.

We continued our explore and found ourselves at the Echuca Hotel for an afternoon beverage. It was so lovely to be out and about in mid 20 temps and not a breath of wind! I won’t take that for granted again….

Finally, we headed to the local Indian restaurant (recommended by the lady at reception) for our last dinner out on tour (and our first in almost 3 weeks since we had our farewell dinner in Esperance with the Scotts). Actually sitting outside as the sun sets doing the blog for the first time in what feels like months. Back to a much more restrained life next week.

We have decided to do a river cruise in the morning before moving on again. Looking forward to it 🙂 .
