2025-10-21 Batten Down Day

2025-10-21 Batten Down Day

Well, not surprisingly we woke to rain and wind this morning. It didn’t take long for us to agree that towing the van today was not clever or desirable at all. So another day in the Edithburgh region it was. After taking the opportunity to sort some life admin and doing some more of my jigsaw we decided to brave the elements and head out with the car to do some of the sightseeing that was planned for today as…

2025-10-20 Edithburgh

2025-10-20 Edithburgh

Another full day with heaps to see – much different landscape and attractions than the last couple of days. We woke to pretty miserable weather (as expected) with cloud, wind and intermittent rain – and really cold. We decamped as we got around to it and started our move north up the peninsula. First stop was Yorketown – a town that exists because it is on the intersection of 5 roads. We finally found a bakery so loaded up on…

2025-10-19 Emus, Ruins, Shipwrecks and Cliffs

Another incredible day to add to our list! Today we treated like it was Sunday (oh that’s right, it is 🙂 ) and got up when we felt like it. After a relaxed breakfast and updating ourselves with the news of the day we headed off on our expedition within the Innes National Park. We called in to every available coastal viewing spot as they came up. Moody photos today as it was cloudy (but not rainy) for most of…

2025-10-18 Dhilba Guuranda – Innes National Park

We had a great day today! Still struggling with the 2.5 hour time change as the sun doesn’t set here until going on 745pm so we stay out until it’s dark and then start to think about dinner. Leads to a late night by the time we’ve eaten and I’ve blogged and then we do it all again the next day… This morning we didn’t leave the caravan park until 10am (read 730 in our timing). After getting the sheets…

2025-10-17 Yorke Peninsula

2025-10-17 Yorke Peninsula

After two days of relocating and not much else, today we resumed our holiday programme and it felt good! We gave ourselves a more relaxed start today and were out of Kimba around 830. Our plan was to beeline past the places we’ve been before on our way to the Yorke Peninsula. We bypassed Port Augusta and Port Pirie (visited here with Nicki and Tony for lunch back at the start of 2019). Our first stop (other than a roadside…

2025-10-16 Kimba

2025-10-16 Kimba

No alarm again today and I was shocked when I woke to light at 715 and we hadn’t already left. I then realised it was 445 am according to the times we’ve existed in for three months until late yesterday afternoon. We jumped up and were on the road by 745 (515) which I think is ok. Another big day of travel which I did my share of driving. Maybe not my best moment was when I encouraged Bob not…

2025-10-15 Change of State

As pre-empted yesterday, we were up and on the road early. I didn’t set an alarm but with the sun rising so early we were wide awake at 530 and on the road by 545. The local kangaroos were the only ones up to see us off. We had a massive day of driving and I even had to help out and do some driving to share the load 🙂 . It was quite windy, but luckily the wind was…

2025-10-14 …And that is a wrap on WA

2025-10-14 …And that is a wrap on WA

Well, here we are having spent over 3 months exploring WA. When added to our 2023 trip we’ve clocked up 5 months living here. It has been so unbelievably good. So many highlights. Tonight we have said goodbye to Karen and Kieran and we will both leave as soon as it is light tomorrow – us directly to smash out the Nullarbor as quickly as we can, and the Scott’s to Esperance to top up supplies before they take a…

2025-10-13 Cape Arid National Park

Not too early a start this morning as I had a ridiculous amount of photos to go through last night after our full day yesterday. Thanks to Bob for filling in the words or I would have been up even later. The Scott’s did what they do best and were out at like 5am walking and running locally. We drove our car today and left at 830 for a full day out at the Cape Arid National Park. There were…

2025-10-12 Frenchman Peak (by Bob)

2025-10-12 Frenchman Peak (by Bob)

We were up and away early this morning for our planned climb of Frenchman Peak, which is only about 6km from our campground. We had heard that it was a challenging climb on granite, which was backed by the Grade 5 hike level. The early start gave us the chance to climb the hill in the cool of the morning without any wind, with the added bonus that we beat the crowds to the walk. The walk was challenging, but…
