Day 2 in Geraldton today and we all had chores to get done before we set out exploring for the afternoon. Both the Scott’s and the Allen’s managed to pick up a coveted free camping spot at the foreshore which is central to everything of interest. So once we’d finished shopping Bob and I pulled the bikes off the van and rode in to meet the others. The afternoon was spent enjoying the lovely weather and riding around the points of interest in town. We saw the Yellow Submarine (a submarine designed for catching crayfish that never made it past prototype), the Big Marble, visited the historic jail (where the cells are now used as craft stalls) and finally spent a pleasant hour or so sitting overlooking the water at a 50’s style cafe.

At about 4 we all decided that sunset and dinner would be at the HMAS Sydney memorial overlooking the city and coastline. The memorial is for over 600 people lost at sea on HMAS Sydney. No wreckage was ever found.

We all rounded out the day at the local cinema seeing Jurassic Park. Tomorrow we up stumps again and continue further north.
