Well, today didn’t pan out how we all we initially planning but it was still so good! We knew there was some weather with wind incoming last night but were hopeful that we could still start the day snorkelling. That didn’t happen! But we spent the day exploring regardless and saw so much.

We started at Steven’s Camp, where the snorkelling looked amazing yesterday….not so much today! So we decided to do the day’s explore and see what it looked like this afternoon. There were heaps of whales to watch regardless.

We moved around 20km north on corrugated roads and sand dunes like nothing we have seen since the Gibb in 2023. Kieran was in his element and Bob had a heart rate that meant no exercise was required today 🙂 . 20km up the road we hit Pelican Beach. So beautiful, however closed for swimming due to a whale carcass that showed up a week ago – which is a shark attraction. While thankfully we didn’t see the whale, we did see remnants of its jaw and the baleen (see I still remember year 6 natural science) to extract krill from the ocean. So fascinating. And turtles, dolphins, starfish and whales to enjoy while we walked the beach.

Then to Maggie’s Beach which has been on my list since I started researching the area and it didn’t disappoint. Incredible rock layers in cave-like areas. So so cool.

We headed back via Elle’s Beach and called in to the snorkelling location at Steven’s Camp but sadly it was still too windy. So back to the van’s where the girls started a macramé anklet exercise to replace those purchased at Daly Waters 2 years ago, and the boys watched some Netflix series in our van.

None of us need glasses….just makes us look cool 🙂

Tomorrow we are off again heading to Exmouth. Soooo excited. Oh and did I mention I am so excited? Anyway, I am super excited to head to Exmouth for our whale shark cruise/swim. We are planning to head via Coral Bay as this is the only chance we have to explore there.
