2025-08-10 Dales Gorge
Today was sort of like a weekend day – oh that’s right, it was…
Bob and I didn’t rise until after 730. We set up our outdoor living space for the first time this trip where Bob and Jase investigated Jase’s coffee machine that wasn’t working. Not sure what they did, but it seems to be working now. I cleaned the caravan floor 3 times! Oh my goodness, Pilbara dirt gets everywhere.
After their early morning exercise, the Scott’s headed out to the Fern Pool for a swim and some relax time. The rest of us left soon after and (not intentionally) did another hike on the way there, so were quite a bit behind. We all enjoyed a swim in the pool with the temperature hitting 30 degrees today. The water at the falls was so much warmer than in the rest of the pool.

We ate our packed lunch and the Scott’s headed back to the van via the lower gorge walk while the rest of us spent some time relaxing at Fortesque Falls. Another great swimming hole that we will try out while we are here.
Then it was time to head back (via 300 steps back out of the gorge) and prepare for our next holiday experience. Karen has chosen for her group experience a photo shoot at the falls in Karijini and today was the day! We changed into the designated shoot clothes and retraced our steps back to Fortesque Falls. We took a lot of different photos which I am working my way through, but need to stop in order to get some sleep before an early start tomorrow. But a sneak peak is below.

We stayed on to enjoy nibbles in the fading light while I picked up a couple of photos around the falls.

Then it was back to the vans for the evening. Bob and I had arranged a call with the family tonight so jumped straight into that when we arrived back as it was already 9pm at home. It was lovely to get the updates from all as we head into birthday week for 3 of the 6 of us.
Tomorrow we all head out exploring the gorges further afield. Another full day coming up.
