2025-08-27 Red Bluff
Sunrise this morning and we could finally see our site after arriving after dark last night. A pretty nice outlook!

Today we spent the whole day getting to Red Bluff which was only 50km up the road. Karen and Kieran left before us as they were doing a day trip while Bob and I had planned an overnighter. It took us a while to load the car for a camping night, but we were on the road by 10.
We stopped and explored at all the coastal turn offs we could. Some of the ‘roads’ were very off road but Bob survived admirably. There are too many photos today. I’m lying in a swag trying to blog so I might have to cull when we are back in the van later on.

We passed the salt loading facility for the salt mined from Lake MacLeod- however were unable to see it up close as the road was closed to the public.

The coastline here is amazing. So textured and varied. The raw power of the ocean is on full display compared to the Ningaloo where the reef shelters the shore. We saw an abundance of whales and calves in close to shore today.
We stopped for a sausage sizzle lunch on the cooker out of the back of the car at a spot with a great view before moving on to the slow going drive in to Goat Cave. Here we came across the Scott’s heading out and after a quick chat confirming we were all enjoying the day immensely, we continued on our way. Once we arrived at the water it was an incredibly steep walk down a very big sand dune to get to the bottom. The trek was worth it though. Great scenery once again.

Then it was through to our camp ground at Red Bluff where we met up with Karen and Kieran and checked out the cave only a 100m from our site.
With the swag all set up we had some afternoon nibblies before I did some sunset photography at the water.

Then pizza at the little cafe with the Scott’s before they headed back to Quobba station in the dark. They came across a car that had catastrophically broken its wheel off on the way back and were able to assist by providing access to their starlink.
The Allen’s have enjoyed their day down at Quobba Blowholes. Sue once again was successful fishing – this time picking up a Mulloway.

Tomorrow night we are all at different locations. We meet up again on Friday night at Gascoyne Junction.
