2025-09-03 Cape Peron

Another amazing start to the day where we all enjoyed our proximity to the beach when we woke up and walked/fished/enjoyed before breakfast.

Let me start by saying my swansong in the swag went so well it may have convinced me it wasn’t the swansong…..time will tell.

The light was really lovely this morning, although there was a serious dew that took forever to evaporate off the swag before it got stowed for the next couple of months.

Once we were finally on the road, we moved on to Cape Peron. More drone time to showcase the insane colours here. I can’t describe the colours sufficiently….so so good.

Then Bob and I moved the cars to Skip Jack Point while the others hiked the dune ridge to get there. The bird life here was off the charts. Probably because there were so many fish. Unfortunately, other than a sting ray, the dugongs and dolphins that were there earlier this morning didn’t put in a show.

Back to the vans this afternoon with a reverse car pack required before we head off again tomorrow. After the most appreciated showers we headed out to the local hotel for some drinks and dinner. So happy to meet up with Mel and Doug after tic tacing our way around the WA North West region for the last few weeks.

Tomorrow we all (including Mel and Doug) head to Monkey Mia for a Marine Life tour first thing. Fingers crossed for some great sightings.
