2025-09-26 Wine, Cheese and the good life!
Moving day again today and we were on the road by 830. We headed straight for Northcliffe where water tanks were topped up. Then down to the coast at Windy Harbour. The coastline here is incredible so the drone went up at multiple locations.
First stop was Point d’Entrecasteau where we looked through the ‘Window’ as well as over the cliffs at nearby lookouts. Spectacular views!

From here we moved through to Tookulup Lookout. Different rock formations only a couple of km from from the last location.

Our cliff tour finished at Sunset lookout another couple of km up the road. Once again, such different cliff structures.

We then wound our way down via the township of Windy Harbour to Cathedral Rock Beach. Bob was not impressed with this spot that I navigated us to as there was no spot to easily turn the vans around. A simple 3 point turn later and all was good…. worth it though (if you ask me).

It was pushing close to lunchtime by now so we flicked on the car ovens and heated pies as we continued east. Once our quick lunch stop was out of the way we beelined through to the Valley of the Giants. There is a treetop walk here that looks over the massive tingle eucalyptus trees. Very different to the karri and marri trees around Pemberton. They have shallow roots with a resulting large base to the trunk. Over years the trunks hollow out through fires, disease, fungus etc – making for great photographic arches.

We walked the Ancient Empires trail at ground level, and while the walk through the canopy was so interesting, I really found the scale of the trees so impressive from the ground.

We had planned to get the bikes off the vans and hit an easy and short mountain bike trail on Sue’s recommendation. The ride included a section through the hollow base of a tingle tree. Unfortunately my time management for the day meant there was no time if we wanted to get to tonight’s camp before dark.
We moved through to Scotsdale, where we have booked camp sites at Ducketts Mill Wines and Denmark Farmhouse Cheese for the next two nights. Late afternoon light was exceptional and we set a record setting up in time to enjoy the sunset. I picked up a bottle of rose to enjoy from the cellar door and they gave me a couple of riedel wine glasses to enjoy it in. Just need to drop them back when we are done. The wine glass snob in me is very impressed!

We have a big day of exploring planned for tomorrow – most importantly we will make sure we are back in time for a cheese and wine tasting here in the afternoon.

Lovely photos Kerri. Wayne’s mum and dad are in Norseman. I guestimate you could cross paths somewhere between Albany and Esperance.
Sounds like we are converging on each other. I hope they are enjoying their trip.
