2025-10-16 Kimba
No alarm again today and I was shocked when I woke to light at 715 and we hadn’t already left. I then realised it was 445 am according to the times we’ve existed in for three months until late yesterday afternoon. We jumped up and were on the road by 745 (515) which I think is ok.
Another big day of travel which I did my share of driving. Maybe not my best moment was when I encouraged Bob not to top up with fuel in Ceduna (while I was driving) after we’d traversed quarantine as there was still heaps of fuel in the tank. So we agreed to move 150km up the road to refill.
When we arrived at the one and only petrol station it turns out it was closed for 4 days from today! So a mad google later and we found the next town 40km up the road had a pump as long as we were there by 4pm. So off we went and arrived with time to spare to discover the pump out front of the general store was ‘out of order’. Another frantic google later and the next town 40km up the road seemed to be a good option….and it was. Bob hasn’t even mentioned that my relaxed position vs his conservative position added stress to the day 🙂 .
We stopped at Kimba after 800km of travel for the day around 5pm and took the obligatory photos before heading to the free camping facility at the recreation facilities for the town. A donation is all that is required and it’s so worth it! Kimba sells itself as the town half way across Australia and I think it’s pretty on the money.

After pulling up we went for our first walk in 2 days and headed to the local hotel and supported the economy by having a beverage and dinner. A pleasant walk back and I think I am ready to embrace the new time zone and head to bed early after all the towing I’ve done over the last 2 days.

Tomorrow we head back into tourist mode. Bob is planning our itinerary as I write this. Looking forward to seeing some new landscapes.
