Well today I excelled myself and got up for a morning walk two days in a row!  And it was so worth it.  I don’t get many points though cause sunrise isn’t until 730 here, and we are half an hour behind home in time zones so it was sort of like walking when I usually start work in the office at 8am…..

Regardless, the morning colours were magic.  We walked to the jetty in Cowell and  then did the mangrove walk before stopping off at a café in the main street to feed the caffeine addiction for the boys.  Then it was time to pack and depart again.  One week into our trip and we are yet to have 2 nights in the same location. This may continue for a little longer but once we hit WA we will hopefully be slowing down a tad.

On our way to Elliston we stopped at the town of Cleve – a lovely country town with the coolest sculptures made from metal tools and equipment.  The wind was bitter but we rugged up and explored the town.

Then it was straight through to Elliston.  Tonight we are at the caravan park and it is our first night connected to power and water since leaving home.  We all had the washing machines going flat out for the afternoon!  Once domestic chores were under control the Allens headed out to try their luck squiding in and around the jetty while we and the Scott’s unloaded the bikes and headed out for an afternoon bike ride around the cliff top sculpture trail.  A really enjoyable way to finish the day.

Tonight the wind has dropped off, however it is still not calm.  Jase set the slow combustion fire in the camp kitchen going and we all ate dinner there and introduced the Allens to the frustrations of Five Crowns card game.  I can’t remember who won blah blah….but I think I may have come second 🙂 .

Moving on again tomorrow.  Will update from wherever we end up.

  1. Great gravel bike riding and sculptures. Kathy was given 5 ,Crowns set from a friend so we may get yo play again whilst Kim is home over school holidays.

    1. Yes we really enjoyed the bike ride. The only one we’ve managed to go on so far but looking forward to more once we settle in a place for longer than a night. 🙂
