2025-07-07 Fowlers Bay

This morning we all took over the kitchen shed at the camp ground and completed one of Tani’s PT sessions. It was cold and windy but heaps of fun.

Then Karen rode the 20km or so back to the highway while the rest of us threaded our vehicles back out of the camping area.  We only moved another 50km or so down the road to Fowlers Bay where there was yet another jetty.  After lunch the squiders went out and the rest of us went and watched a baby southern right whale calf breaching over and over.  I took a heap of photos, but unfortunately none worked out.  Then Bob and I scaled to the top of the sand dunes overlooking the bay for a great view.

With no squiding wins, we all packed up and headed further west.  Next stop was another hole in the Nullarbor golf course, this time at Nundroo roadhouse.  The par 5 hole was completed in 8, 10, 13, 16, 18 and 20 shots.  Jason takes the yellow jersey today 🙂 .

We continued on and stopped at a free camp 50km past Yalata in time for an absolutely incredible sunset. The weather has been a balmy 22 degrees right up to sunset, however the change with high winds is due through this evening.  We are keen to go to the Head of the Bight to see the baby southern right whales up close tomorrow, but will have to wait and see how the wind is.

  1. So loving your blog – and your photos are stunning (as usual :)). Nice to see the ‘tank’ (as we called it) still going strong – and like the new rig too. Would you believe our old one is still up for sale…

    Stay safe and enjoy…

    1. Thanks Charlotte, yes I can’t believe it hasn’t been snapped up although she is quite a long van to tow and manoeuvre. I hope she finds her new owners soon and continues to travel the country.
