Mitcho’s were the slow starters today.  The others all headed into Cervantes before the designated meetup time of 930 and we had a relaxing start.  Karen biked, Kieran ran, the Allens checked out the town and we slept in, read the news, played Wordle, watched the news, made coffee and then decided to pack up.

First stop once the travelling three-ship was mobile was Jurien Bay.  We will be spending a few days here on the way back down the coast so it was just a quick visit.  I couldn’t resist the ruins of the old jetty and headed up for some photos.

The weather from the south was following us and just as we were finishing up the rain hit.  We sheltered till it had passed and headed further north to Green Head.  The hope here was to see some Sea Lions, but just as we arrived so did the weather.  Jase and Sue were the only sensible ones and didn’t even try to walk to the lookout.  First Kieran and then I bailed (my raincoat had completely perished it turns out) and Bob and Karen were troupers and made the lookout with zero visibility.  Once those of us completely drenched had put dry clothes on (it’s so cool dragging your wardrobe around behind the car) we continued the trek north.

Next stop was Leeman where we hadn’t escaped the weather completely so coastline viewing was done from the vehicles.

We moved north a little more and found ourselves at a big lobster at Dongara.  Sue loves big things 🙂 so of course we all join the party.

We headed to the jetty at Port Denison for lunch  on the rocks of the breakwall and stayed ahead of the rain.

Then it was to Greenough historical area with a convict built bridge, various ruins, a church, local store and so many leaning trees!  I can only imagine how windy it gets at this place as the trees all lean in the same direction.

Once we’d finished with all the ruins we headed to Geraldton to the only free camp in town – not surprisingly it was full.  We decided that Geraldton is a 2 night stop so Bob and I decided to unhitch at a local caravan park to make shopping and exploring easier tomorrow while the others headed a little further into the suburbs.  This evening was spent at the iconic Point Moore lighthouse for sunset which is the oldest steel constructed lighthouse in Australia.

Then KERRI COOKED!!.  Possibly the only time it will happen this trip so she even washed up after the gastronomical feast 🙂 .
