Pack up this morning after four nights at Jarvis Estate was painful. We’ve really enjoyed our time out exploring but van cleaning and organisation went out the window for the duration, so it was catch up time this morning. The Scott’s were off early on their bike ride while we were an hour behind them leaving.

We decided to take the longer route to Pemberton via Nannup. Purely because Bob saw there was a bakery there and I’m sure he’s on a mission to try a pie at every town we visit! The town was quaint and I loved the crocheted lounge cover on display on the street.

Once pies were devoured (I joined today as there was actually a vego option), it was time to move on to Pemberton. This town is well known for its Karri forests. We are staying in the middle of a forest and happily while there are heaps of trees we have still managed to maintain enough sky for solar charging and starlinking.

We called by the Gloucester Tree which is currently closed for climbing. There are a number of trees in the area that were designated fire watch trees with bolts placed around them in a spiral for climbing. We were able to climb part way up another tree later in the day.

We then moved through to the Cascades. Heaps of water flow and a lovely loop walk around the top of the trees on the ridge.

Then it was through to the Bicentennial tree which we all had a go at climbing. I was the only one to make it to the designated turn around point (about 30m up the tree), and I even did it twice as I left my phone with Bob but decided I wanted some photos from up there….

The upper platform is not open due to structural issues, but it was fun to climb half way up.

That’s me half way up!

We then completed a portion of the Karri Forest Explorer drive. A great way to spend the afternoon.

The Scott’s were a step behind us for the day after their morning bike ride.

They also visited the Walk through tree and completed the Beedelup Falls walk which we will see tomorrow.

We plan to complete the Karri loop tomorrow before hopefully enjoying some of the local attractions.

    1. There are so many things I’m not up to physically, but for some weird reason this didn’t concern me. Bob freaked out when I stopped half way up and got my phone out for some photos…
